Dr. Nicholas Klein Delivers Compassionate Mental Health Care at Yokosuka
Dr. Nicholas Klein is a clinical psychologist, supporting the Yokosuka community through his work with Defense Health Agency (DHA), supervised by Program Manager Jen Juliano for Goldbelt’s contract with U.S. Navy in Japan. Serving at a military treatment facility overseas means providing care not only to active-duty service members and their families, but to veterans in the region. Accessing mental health care as a veteran overseas can be challenging, making Military Treatment Facilities an essential lifeline for active and retired military service members.
The stressors of military service can require specialized mental health care, highlighting the importance of accessible, high-quality behavioral health support. Dr. Klein plays a key role in meeting this need in the Yokosuka area. In a recent case, a veteran sought mental health services to address anxiety related to multiple psychosocial stressors. Dr. Klein provided comprehensive, patient-centered care using evidence-based approaches, including mindfulness techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, and medication management. Through this integrated treatment plan, the patient experienced a resolution of symptoms and meaningful improvement in overall well-being.
The impact of Dr. Klein’s work was reflected in the patient’s expression of gratitude. “I was seeing Dr. Klein for mental health issues. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and engaging. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful, and I appreciate everyone who had a hand in my care.”
We are proud to have Dr. Klein on our team and deeply appreciate his helpfulness, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond to support patients and colleagues alike. This recognition underscores his dedication to compassionate, effective care and Goldbelt’s commitment to supporting the mental health needs of service members, veterans, and families throughout the overseas military community. Dr. Klein has been working in Japan for more than four years, and supporting veterans is one of the most rewarding aspects of his overseas experience.
